The Big O on I-4

This original concept by Daniel Charles Assael and AAI | Assael Associates, Inc.of “The Big O on I-4” is part of the AAI submission for The City of Orlando I-4 Ultimate Public Art project, part of the I-4 Ultimate Art Endowment. We appreciate the consideration given to AAI by The City of Orlando and its Community Redevelopment Agency, and the I-4 Ultimate Endowment Committee with members from I-4 Mobility Partners, FDOT and SGL Constructors. Though our submission was not chosen, we enjoyed the opportunity to enhance Central Florida and The City of Orlando, a community that we love. We congratulate finalists Ilan Averbuch, Hunter Brown, Carlos Rolón, and Bill Fitzgibbons.

Public Art Submission: City of Winter Park Fairbanks Entry

This concept design for The Fairbanks Entry to The City of Winter Park is the work of Daniel Charles Assael and AAI | Assael Associates, Inc. It is part of the AAI Public Art Submission in response to the recent Request for Proposals for a Winter Park Entrance Feature at I-4, an iconic piece of public art or architecture as part of the I-4 Ultimate Art Endowment. We appreciate the consideration given to AAI by The Public Art Advisory Board of The City of Winter Park and the I-4 Ultimate Endowment Committee with members from I-4 Mobility Partners, FDOT and SGL Constructors. For our scale model division, we have creative opportunities for artists, crafts people, model builders, sculptors, fabricators and tinkerers at flexible hours in an open studio in Winter Park. Hand skills are a must, computer skills are a plus.

Daniel Charles Assael - Calendar Boy

Every year, [Blackhawk Color and Print Specialists asks talented creative professionals to contribute to their annual 12 month calendar. This year, Fred Daunno, our associate and friend, was chosen to provide original art for third quarter 2015. Fred Daunno is a graduate of Ringling College of Art and Design, majoring in Advertising, Design and Illustration. He has over 30 years of experience in all areas of management, design, illustration, art and production, most notably as the Creative Director/Art Director for Tupperware Brands Corporation in Orlando, Florida. Under his own Daunno Studio, he has worked with clients such as Walt Disney World, AAA, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, The Saturday Evening Post, and many others. Fred chose to use a photo that he art directed with photographer, Mark Taulbee. Daniel Assael was the subject. It is genuinely an honor to be a subject of Fred’s work. The captions under the photo read: “People Who Inspire” series. Designed and illustrated by Fred Daunno with photo by Mark Taulbee. Fred Daunno

It was an entertaining and informative evening at the AIGA sponsored event at Full Sail University. The speaker was Fred Daunno, Tupperware’s Art Director for more than three decades. The principals of AAI value their continued friendship with Fred and are honored to have been a part of his esteemed career. Some AAI Tupperware projects assigned by Fred included: Product Illustrations; Line Illustrations; Display Fixtures; and some real Characters like Munchkid, Bud Seedling and Safe-T.

Gleb Derujinsky

Gleb Derujinsky, legendary fashion photographer, and his beloved wife of 42 years, Wallis Fairfax Derujinsky, were killed together in a car crash in Durango, Colorado on June 9, 2011. The Derujinskys were not just professional associates of AAI, they were family. We miss them very much.

On March 19, 2011, Wallis took this photo of Gleb enjoying his 86th birthday doing what he loved to do.
